2011: Judith Mathews

Munroe-Meyer Institute, University of Nebraska Medical Center

Through this SABA grant, Dr. Mathews was able to assist the University of Massachusetts in formalizing a collaboration with a Kenyan university in developing an ABA certification program and in supervising candidates. The grant was also used to fund the first of a series of online behavioral pediatric psychology courses specifically geared to African culture. Currently, the introductory behavioral pediatric psychology course introduces undergraduate students to basic principles of ABA in the context of children and common child behavior problems. It will be a foundation course for further instruction in child psychopathology, child development, advanced behavioral pediatric psychology, and practicum placements, among others. It will be geared specifically toward African children and common behavioral problems found in Kenya.
